Netflix is a popular streaming service that offers a wide variety of TV shows, movies, and documentaries. It’s a great way to entertain the whole family, but it’s important to make sure that your children are only watching age-appropriate content. That’s where Netflix parental controls come in.

Netflix parental controls allow you to restrict the content that your children can watch. You can set a maturity rating for each profile, and you can also block specific titles. You can also require a PIN to access each profile, which can help to prevent your children from watching content that you don’t want them to see.

Get started setting up Netflix parental controls

To set up parental controls on Netflix, you’ll need to go to your account settings. On the website, click on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen, and then select “Account.” On the mobile app, tap on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen, and then select “Profile & Parental Controls.”

Once you’re in your account settings, scroll down to the “Parental Controls” section. Click on “Change” to start setting up your parental controls.

Set a maturity rating for each profile

The first thing you’ll need to do is set a maturity rating for each profile. This will determine the types of content that are available to each profile. Netflix uses the MPAA and TV Parental Guidelines to rate its content.

To set a maturity rating, click on the drop-down menu next to “Maturity Rating” and select the appropriate rating. You can also choose to block all content above a certain rating.

Block specific titles

In addition to setting a maturity rating, you can also block specific titles. This is a good way to prevent your children from watching content that you don’t want them to see.

To block a title, click on the “Title Restrictions” tab. Enter the title of the show or movie that you want to block, and then click on the “Add” button.

Require a PIN to access each profile

If you want to prevent your children from changing their profile settings or watching content that you don’t want them to see, you can require a PIN to access each profile.

To require a PIN, click on the “PIN Protection” tab. Enter a PIN, and then click on the “Save” button.

Review your parental controls

It’s a good idea to review your parental controls periodically to make sure that they’re still meeting your needs. You can do this by going to your account settings and clicking on the “Parental Controls” tab.

Netflix parental controls are a great way to ensure that your children are only watching age-appropriate content. By taking the time to set up parental controls, you can help to keep your children safe and entertained.

Here are some additional tips for using Netflix parental controls:

  • Talk to your children about the importance of watching age-appropriate content.
  • Monitor your children’s viewing habits regularly.
  • Set clear rules about what content is and isn’t allowed.
  • Be consistent with enforcing the rules.
  • If you have any concerns about your children’s viewing habits, talk to their doctor or a mental health professional.

By following these tips, you can help to ensure that your children have a safer and more enjoyable experience watching Netflix.
