A smiling person in a Santa hat holds a festive red stocking, perhaps inspired by their list of forty stocking stuffer ideas for the whole family. They stand in a warmly lit room adorned with fairy lights, wooden walls, and holiday decorations.

Christmas is just around the corner, so it’s time to make some cocoa, finish the shopping, and stuff the family’s stockings with goodies and games.

Hanging stockings “by the chimney with care” has always been one of my favorite holiday traditions. Growing up, my sisters and I anxiously awaited waking up to see our once-empty socks filled to the brim with treats and treasures. Digging through our stockings was always the most magical part of Christmas morning.

When it comes to finding the perfect stocking-sized gifts, however, it can be difficult to shop without going over your budget. Never fear: we at Troomi are here to help. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best stocking stuffer ideas that your family—and your wallet—will love this Christmas season.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Toddlers

Infants, babies, toddlers…Oh my! Here are some of the best busy toddler stocking stuffer ideas for your little ones—because even though they may be too small to understand Christmas, there’s no better gift than seeing your little one smile.

  • Bath toys. Once your toddler sees new bath toys in their stocking, they’ll be excited to play in the suds and get clean.
  • Bath crayons. Start cultivating your child’s creativity and imagination early with a set of bath crayons. These cool tools let your child draw as they bathe. They’re entirely washable, so cleanup is 100% hassle free.
  • Fun utensils. For those little ones that are still discovering solid foods, a fun set of utensils can be just the thing they need to get excited about eating. For some extra brownie points, you could even find utensils that feature your child’s favorite cartoon character!
  • Art supplies. It’s never too early to start exploring your imagination. Help your toddler get in touch with their artistic side by stuffing their stocking with some age-appropriate art supplies, like crayons or colored pencils.
  • Small stuffed animal. Stockings are the perfect size to comfortably fit a new friend, whether that friend is an animal, dinosaur, or stuffed Baby Yoda.
  • Fridge magnets. Turn the fridge into your toddler’s personal canvas with a pack of fridge magnets. They’ll have fun for hours as they mix and match the different magnets.
  • Play-Doh. Play-Doh is a tried-and-true stocking stuffer for kids of all ages. It’s especially good for toddlers, though, because playing with Play-Doh helps them practice their fine-motor skills!
  • Stickers. I have yet to meet a toddler who doesn’t love stickers. Help your kiddo make their mark this holiday season by including some colorful stickers in their stocking.
  • Alphabet puzzle. Give your toddler the gift of education by helping them practice their letters and sounds with a fun alphabet puzzle.
  • Funky toothbrush. Just like the bath toys and fun utensils, giving your toddler a zany toothbrush is a great way to get them excited about dental hygiene—and have fun as they brush.

Stocking Stuffers Ideas for Kids

Here are some stocking stuffer ideas that are guaranteed to fill your kiddo’s Christmas morning with smiles.

  • A new card game. When I was younger, I loved getting games in my stocking. If you can’t find a specific card game that your child would enjoy, just give them a classic deck of 52!
  • Slime-making kit. Slime is all the rage. Help your little scientist make their own slime by including a slime-making kit in their stocking.
  • Art supplies. This Christmas, give your child the gift of creativity by stuffing their stocking with crayons, markers, colored pencils, or a wonderful set of watercolors.
  • Mad Libs. Quick, give me a noun! Mad Libs books are fun, funky, and entertaining for the whole family, making them the perfect stocking stuffer.
  • Walkie talkies. Walkie talkies are the perfect gift to help siblings bond. Just don’t be surprised when they want to use their new gadgets to play spies and ask you to be the bad guy.
  • Small book. I’m a firm believer that there’s no better gift than a good book—and many books are perfectly stocking sized! Comic books and graphic novels make great stocking stuffers as well.
  • Sidewalk chalk. Your child may not be able to use sidewalk chalk until the snow melts, but this stocking stuffer will help them exercise their creativity and get fresh air once they can comfortably draw outside.
  • Winter gear. Even though Christmas might be over on December 26, winter is just getting started. Stuff your child’s stocking with a new hat or cozy pair of gloves to help them stay warm (and stylish) until the spring thaw.
  • Cozy socks. Sock-ception! Getting dressed can be pretty fun when you’re putting on a pair of colorful socks.
  • Fidget toy. For those kids that have trouble focusing in class or at home, a fidget toy can make a world of difference. If you’re looking for a fun and functional stocking stuffer idea, you can’t go wrong with a fidget toy.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Teens

Teens are notoriously difficult to shop for (at least I know my teenage self was). Make it easy on yourself this Christmas with one of these stocking stuffer ideas for teens!

  • Reusable water bottle. Hydration is key to a healthy body and mind. With a new reusable water bottle, your teen can easily stay hydrated and cut down on single-use plastics.
  • Portable speaker. Nothing brings people together like music. A portable speaker ensures that your teen can bring their tunes with them anywhere they go.
  • Reading light. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, reading with the light that a reading lamp sheds!
  • New book. What good would a reading light be without a new book to go with it? Check out this article for some great recommendations!
  • Pocket journal. Give your teen the gift of mindfulness with a handy pocket journal.
  • Chapstick. How many teens buy themselves a tube of chapstick? This is the perfect gift to help teens avoid the wind-chapped lips that come with outdoor winter activities.
  • Fairy lights. Fairy lights are pretty trendy right now, and it’s easy to see why. Just one strand of these lights can make your teen’s bedroom feel 10x cozier.
  • Portable charger. If your teen is anything like me when I was younger, their phone is never charged. Give them a portable charger to help them keep their phone on and functioning.
  • New phone case. In 2022, phones are a fashion accessory. Keep your child’s Troomi phone stylish and safe with a new phone case.
  • Poetry fridge magnet. Who said toddlers are the only ones who like to play with magnets? A set of poetry magnets is a great stocking stuffer for your creatively minded teens.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Adults

Whether you’re looking for a stocking stuffer for grandma, a stocking stuffer for grandpa, or something to fill up those mom and dad stockings, one of these gifts is sure to be a stand-out.

  • Something to help them get started in a new hobby. As adults, we often forget to make time for our hobbies. This Christmas, give your family member a gift that will catapult them into starting a new hobby.
  • Jewelry. Everyone loves a new piece of bling, whether that’s a pair of earrings or a sleek leather bracelet.
  • Cord organizer. There are few things more frustrating than tangled cords. Help your loved ones keep their wires organized with a handy cord organizer!
  • Tile. Tile is a great stocking stuffer for the forgetful ones in your life. This trackable GPS tag ensures that they’ll never lose their keys, wallet, or phone again.
  • Scented candles. I know, I know, candles are a go-to gift—but they’re popular for a reason! Lighting a scented candle cleanses any room, inviting you to breathe in a moment of calm from the Christmas chaos.
  • Dashboard phone mount. Many of us use our phones as GPS. Help your loved ones get where they’re going safely with a handy dashboard mount for their cell phone.
  • Head scratcher. Give the gift of relaxation with a portable head scratcher. If you’ve ever used one of these whisk-like contraptions, you know how relaxing they can be.
  • Camping gear. If your loved ones are campers, stuff their stockings with new gear like a headlamp, water filter, or solar-powered flashlight.
  • Playing cards. You can play an endless amount of games with a simple 52 card deck, making it the perfect stocking stuffer for any fun-seeking family member.
  • Screen cleaner kit. Phone and tablet screens are magnets for fingerprints. A handy screen cleaner kit is the perfect gift to help your family members keep their devices clean this Christmas season.

Stuff Those Stockings with Smiles

The holiday season is one of the most exciting times of year—and not just because of fun gifts and stocking stuffer ideas. It’s the perfect time to gather with loved ones, enjoy old traditions, and recharge at the end of a long year.

So amidst all the Christmas chaos, don’t forget to stuff your metaphorical stocking with what’s truly important this season: friends, family, and fun around the fireplace.
