6 of the Latest Inventions to Make Kids’ Lives Easier

In our technological society, creative people are using their skills to invent new things every single day. No longer are board games and puzzles all the rage (though puzzles have some great benefits). Now it’s all about technology.

While many inventors focus on creating new tech that boosts productivity and makes adult lives easier, others prefer to craft new technology defined for kids.

If you’re like me, you’re likely asking yourself, “What are the new technology inventions?”

Well, without further ado, here are 6 of the latest inventions that were created with kids in mind.

Amazon Glow

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world in so many ways. For one, it has inspired designers to create products that help us maintain connections with far-away family members and friends.

One of these inventions is Amazon Glow. This new device from Amazon is both a projector and videophone. Glow connects kids with distant family members through the video call feature. It then projects a game or book onto the table in front of them. The projector is interactive, meaning it senses movements and reacts accordingly. Basically, it turns your table into a little screen!

Through the combination of videophone and interactive projector, kids and family members can draw, play games, and read stories together in real time—all without using a phone or tablet. How cool is that?

Albert Digital Math Clock

This one’s a bit on the pricey side, but being a teacher, I thought it was too cool to go unincluded.

Designer Axel Schindlbeck designed this new digital clock, called the Albert Clock, with your child’s math skills in mind. Rather than show the time in regular hours and minutes, as a typical digital clock would, this clock shows a simple math equation.

The answer to the equation is the current time! The designer has stated that the goal is to “motivate the user to use [their] brain cells in a casual manner with the goal that mental arithmetic will almost feel effortless once you get used to it.”

While this digital clock may not make your child’s life easier now, it’ll help them immensely in the long run. There are a few different styles so check it out!

Noise Cancelling Headphones

Have you ever visited an elementary school classroom? If you haven’t, I can describe it for you in one word: loud.

When I taught first grade, my students would often use noise cancelling headphones when the classroom got a bit too noisy. It helped them calm down during stressful moments, regain a sense of peace amidst academic chaos, and gave them a greater ability to focus on their work. These headphones even helped a few students with sound sensitivity enjoy music class—something they wouldn’t be able to do otherwise!

Noise cancelling headphones aren’t only for the classroom, however. They’re also a great option for when you’re on-the-go (think busy airport or long car ride) or even just chilling at home.

While you’re at it, snag a pair for yourself too. Who knows, they may help you regain some semblance of that peace and quiet you maybe lost when you had kids.

Troomi Smartphones

Giving your kids their first smartphone can be intimidating; Troomi’s latest invention to make kids’ life easier is here to take that stress away.

Troomi phones are designed with your child in mind—and we know that each child is different. So we give you the ability to create the perfect phone environment for your child. Nintendo Switch Lite

If you’ve read any of my other posts on the Troomi blog, you’ll know that I love video games. So when Nintendo released their Nintendo Switch Lite console, I was pumped.

The Switch Lite is a cheaper and more portable version of the Nintendo Switch console, and it’s easily one of the best tech toys for kids. Here’s why:

  • The Switch Lite is $100 cheaper than the original Switch.
  • It comes in various adorable colors (yellow, turquoise, gray, coral, and blue), so your kids will be excited by how fun and vibrant it looks.
  • There are no detachable controllers, so you don’t have to worry about kiddos losing or breaking any important pieces.
  • Parental controls let your kids enjoy their device with some restrictions. After all, while gaming is fun, we don’t want them to miss out on enjoying the great outdoors!

Before you buy, it’s important to note that unlike the original Switch, the Switch Lite cannot connect to the TV! It’s a totally portable device. As such, check out this article about how to help your kids safely enjoy their portable tech.

Yoto Story Speaker

There are few things young kids love more than story time. Being busy parents, however, you may not have the chance to do a nightly story session. That’s where the Yoto Story Speaker comes in.

The Story Speaker is a new device that reads stories to kids at any time and place. This snazzy speaker is compact, screenless, and accessible for young kids. There is no camera, no microphone, and no ads. It looks pretty cute too!

It’s simple to use. All your child has to do is choose a story card and slide it into the slot at the top of the speaker. This begins the story. To stop it, simply take the card out. The device does the rest. Until kids can read by themselves, the Yoto Story Speaker is a great way to get them interested in the brilliant art of storytelling.
