Khan Academy is a favorite among educators everywhere. With thousands of video lessons, your child can receive K-12 tutoring on any subject from grammar to science to finance. This app is even equipped with tutoring on AP and SAT subjects for your high-school-aged children. Though it might not be as entertaining as other learning apps, Khan Academy definitely gets the job done. The free app is run by a nonprofit organization with the mission to give kids free, quality education, so consider supporting by making a small donation or volunteering.
2. Duolingo
Duolingo is a fun, free app to help your children learn new languages. With an exciting interface and entertaining learning games (plus, who doesn’t love that little, green owl?), Duolingo is bound to keep your child’s mind engaged. You can purchase the premium version of this app to remove ads, however the free version still provides a great learning experience. 3. NASA
That’s right. Even NASA has a free app that your child can enjoy. This free app contains interactive maps of the solar system, a live stream of the Earth from the International Space Station, and live updates of all the NASA happenings. 4. PBS Kids
With the PBS Kids video and game apps, your child’s favorite TV show characters come to life in numerous clips and games. New educational games are added weekly, so your child will never run out of things to do. Whether it be exploring science, cultivating creativity with art, or learning everyday skills like kindness and mindfulness, PBS Kids has your back.
5. Relay Reader
Though a little less well-known, Relay Reader is a great option for your kids to improve their listening, reading, and comprehension skills. Relay Reader allows your child to experience reading a full chapter book with the help of a narrator reading every other page and self-recording features that help them hear what they sound like. Reading comprehension questions follow to help your child not just read the words, but understand what they are reading.
